View of All Saints Church, Burythorpe.

Welcome to Burythorpe

The village of Burythorpe nestles comfortably on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds roughly halfway between York and Scarborough.  Burythorpe lies on the old Roman road from Malton to Brough.  With a population of about three hundred people, the occupation of this piece of England can be traced back to neolithic times.  Overlooking the village is All Saints Church.  The present building was opened in 1858, but excavations in 1996 discovered an important Roman site and identified pre-Christian remains from the late Iron Age.
